Burstabdomen resident plant whisperer lives through the harsh winters of an arid land, preparing for spring, prodding the bloomers to bloom and nurturing the perennials.

The urban 10 feet by three feet balcony is her playhouse with the plants her playmates.

Contrary to popular belief, the dry December, January, and February demand daily watering for the grown-ups. The germinating saplings of Petunia, Garbera, Marigold, and Cosmos need water every couple of days. Too much water and the stems become soggy.

Broken egg shells and mustard cake in water are staples for the plants. The mixture is allowed to soak until the entire neighborhood stinks. The plants return all the love with their lush green foliage, smell, and radiance.

The hibiscus from Bangalore, Calcutta and other places across the country start blooming and drawing the butterflies upon themselves as the sun gets warmer

The coriander seeds planted around October – germinates and flowers by February – providing seeds for the next cycle- the red amaranths take around two months to grow.

The winter bottle gourd fruit remains hidden like an over protective mother guarding her child- the balcony is converted into a trellis for her.

The indoor plants are often deprived nutritionally and suffer from a lack of sunlight and over watering.

The plants whisper sweet nothings to their amour. To her, the 10 feet urban garden is as expansive as the ever stretching universe.

Her constant attention is all that the plants wish for. They sway in happiness every time she walks into their midst.
