Durga Puja Flows as the Seasons Blow Through Life
For some, Durga Puja is a festival. For others, it is culture, memory, tradition or simply life itself. Like the changing seasons, the Pujo returns every year, carrying hope, colour and renewal.
What Is Durga Puja?
What is Durga Puja? Is it a ritual? Is it a festival? Is it a rite of passage? Is it a religion? Is it a culture? To each his own. That’s Durga Pujo.

Spring
The ‘Pujo’ flows as the seasons pass through. With wonder in her eyes. The colour matched first flush. All in sync.
Promise
The first flush also brings forth promise. A few more bucks. A few more days of sustenance. On a full stomach.

Bloom
Candy trees start flowering all around.
Summer
Bloom. And summer rushes in. Some grab at it impatiently. While some prepare with perseverance. Tucked away. In a corner. Oblivious of the riot.

Grace
The summer heat passes through a ‘Pujo’ with grace. As graceful as the little one in her finery.

Hunger
All the activity leaves everyone parched. Hungry. And clamouring for more.
Harvest
Like nature showering its bounty in harvest season— The ‘Pujo’ does the same.
No one goes hungry. Or thirsty. Even he is confident of a sip.
Autumn
The seasons pass in a blink.
Soon it is autumn all around.
Everyone gets a mouthful.
Before the slumber of winter sets in.
One Last Look
One last look. Before she goes to sleep.
Winter
The fatigue of the rush of seasons. The feeling of completion. And nothing else to do. All these mixed emotions… What can one do. But retreat to one’s mobile.
Memories
What remains is a blur. A memory of memories.
Until Next Year
And the ‘Pujo’ goes into the comfort of slumber. The seed germinating within. What’s left is but a promise. Of candy flowers blooming. Again. And again.

So long— Durga Pujo.
